SFHPCWhat is happening in the horseshoe community
4/19/2011
Livermore CA, Robertson Park Ladies and gentlemen it has arrived, the 2011 horseshoe pitching season. Once again the battle for the Eastbay Summer Series will commence at the famous Robertson Park Horseshoe Grounds. Brad Stangle and Eric Frago may have the lost the last tournament in 2010, but they had a large enough points lead to take home the cup for the second straight year. It was refreshing to have Team Horseshoes-N-Beer show everyone that Team Six Packs armor can be dented. Stangle and Frago have pretty big targets on their backs for 2011 with everyone gunning for them, could we see new champions? On to horseshoe pitching rumors…Will Team Six Pack dominate 2011?
In 2011 may we see Steve Gibson, of the once powerful Dead Ringers, possibly with a new partner? No word if Steve has been holding tryouts but I do know Eric Kramer’s contract was up in 2010. On a recent visit to the SFHPC web site I noticed their 2011 calendar is posted and EBSS & SFHPC have no conflicting dates, so we should expect more Teams from SF heading out to the sunny Eastbay for some action. Dale Garret and Jeff Alley, otherwise known as Team D Nozzle, have been gearing up for 2011 and for sure we will see them in the top 5 once again. One of the biggest stories is the return of Team Hustla. Paul Johnston and Mickey Vaith had to sit twenty eleven out due to Mickey sustaining a near career ending injury. Hopefully the team will have been training and will try to get the title back in 2011. As always, the Hyphy Wifeys will be a threat to make the finals, and with the weather getting better you can bet Lorrisa Wayne has started her training in El Sobrante. As always the usual suspects will be back at Robertson come June 11:- Paul Everett & Matt Arterburn with their fancy uniforms
- Joe Pereira & Scott Kramer looking to finally not go 2-0
- Team John Wayne may have been a hot team to watch in 2010, consistently making the top 5 in almost every appearance,; we will see what they have in store for the fans in 2011.
- Horseshoes N Beer John Mendoza and Elias Beltran made the trip from San Jose last year to shock the horseshoe community by beating Team Six pack, we will see if the duo returns for 2011.
- Several athletes from Crossfit San Jose came out to Livermore to get a taste of EBSS events and we could see more competition from these southbay players.
- Still no word from The Reservoir Dogs camp if they are in for 2011.
- The always entertaining and classy Team SNUS United States also have been keeping awfully quiet. Ryan Brown may not be training to make the EBSS podium but recently found himself on different podium in Monterey, California at the Sea Otter Classic. Nice work Ryan.
Ryan Brown visits mens CAT 2 DH podium @ Sea Otter
- EBSS southern California promoter, Tim Sacks, has been getting the word out in the LBC about the series so we could see more teams making the trip to the bay area.
Finally, the EBSS staff has been meeting to help improve the action and get the games to happen more smoothly & efficiently more on that in May.
Stay tune for some big news about the Summer Kick-Off in the coming weeks.
